You won't be there? Oh, dear! I was looking forward to seeing you. Rats! :-/

I'm glad you liked the painting. Martin Shaw is just beautiful in this role. I hope to paint him from "Apparitions" in the next few months. So many beautiful men, so little time!

Hope you're doing well! Take care, Hon!

Lorraine, I loved this. I wish I had unlimited funds this year. Darn plumbing. I was tempted with Beautiful Bodie, but it's a good thing that I didn't spend the money. I got home and had to fix a tooth yesterday to the tune of $1,100! *sigh* But there will be other cons and more art in my future, I'm sure.

Oh, man, I'm so sorry to hear about your broken tooth! And yes, there will be more cons and artwork. I want to do more of him in this role but getting a good, clear screenshot is difficult, even with the better DVD. :-/

Hope you're doing better! Hang in there and see you soon!

Oh now that is something to wake up to... Don DeMarco is my favourite MS character after Ray Doyle, and ohhhh but you've done him justice here! Those sunset colours, and the look in his eyes, oh and the texture of it all... You know, this might almost be my favourite of your pieces now! Thank you so much!

Right, and then there's this one as I work my way backwards through my f'list. *g* Oh, my goodness. Okay, this is going to sound weird. You've totally captured him here--and the colors and lighting are fantastic, by the way--but I think what I like best about it is that it conveys to me Don DeMarco, but not Martin Shaw. And I love that. You've captured the character. That's absolutely amazing. Thank you! (And you now probably think I'm insane, so I'll just sidle away here...*g*)

Thank you!! Sorry for the delay in answering--it's been crazy since I got back from MW. I'm so pleased you liked this -- I think MS looks his best ever in this movie and I'm glad you think I was able to capture the character. MS did an amazing job with the role and I was captivated by his performance. So glad you liked it. :-) I hope to see you at Close Quarters?? :-)

Take care and thanks again!

He looks almost like a pirate in this one. I haven't seen "Ladder of Swords" so I don't know if he is.

Wonderful picture. You always manage to make them look so true to life.

Thank you, Hon! He does look like a pirate but he was more gypsy, actually. His character was an out-of-work circus performer and he was drop dead gorgeous in this role, I think. :-)

I'll write again this weekend--the feeling of being brain dead is lifting. Slowly, though.

You've posted some absolutely wonderful examples of your work today, but this one has to be my favourite (well, it would be, wouldn't it? *g*)

As others have said, you've captured him perfectly. I really can't find the words to express how beautiful I think this is. Thank you so much for posting it!

By the way, I don't know if you're aware of it but this particular LJ entry of yours was picked up in my daily 'Martin Shaw' Google Alert. I just thought I'd let you know in case you weren't keen on your LJ posts being advertised out there in the big wide world!

I guess this one would be your favorite indeed! ;-) I'm very pleased you liked it and thank you for your lovely comments about it. :-) I didn't realize this would be picked up by a Google Alert--never even heard of Google Alerts before, but I don't mind that it was advertised that way. My slash stuff has warnings and aren't really very explicit. Also, my mother knows what I do, so that's all that matters!! ;-) Thanks for letting me know, however. :-)

This is by far my favourite of your latest set. The dramatic lighting, the colours and your technique, here. I love the brush strokes of his beard and around his left eye. Maybe its because, due to the wider range of colours used, I can see your paint strokes more clearly - and admire them?

I like Martin Shaw well enough, though not a particular fan, but I'd put this one on my wall in a heartbeat, as a stunning piece of art.

I hope you don't mind me commenting but I saw a reference to this painting in a comment made by [livejournal.com profile] byslantedlight. As Don de Marco is one of my favourite characters played by Martin Shaw, I just had to have a look.

You really have captured him beautifully. It looks as if he is sitting by a fire the way you have the lighting on his face. I'm not good with words, but just had to say how much I adore this. :)
